Sing Street (2016)

IMDB Rating 8.1

A coming of age movie, that doesn't seem like it should work, but somehow it does.

The thing that holds the movie together is the music. Like the movie Once, also by director John Carney, the music transforms what could be a very mediocre movie in to a really good one.

Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, an Irish musician, who plays Conor, is another reason the movie works so well. In a role that easily could have been corny or unbelievable, he somehow makes you believe in him.

A musical, a love story, a drama and a comedy: it seems to work on all levels. Really well done. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.
